Programs at the LSU Health Sciences Center School of Public Health
The LSU Health Sciences Center School of Public Health is home to five academic programs, each dedicated to preparing students to address today’s most pressing public health challenges. Through innovative teaching, hands-on learning, and faculty-led research, these programs equip students with the knowledge and skills to improve population health, influence policy, and create healthier, more resilient communities. Academic Programs:
- Bachelor of Science Program – An undergraduate pathway introducing students to the foundations of public health.
- Biostatistics & Data Science – Focused on applying statistical methods and data-driven approaches to solve health-related problems.
- Community Health Science & Policy – Dedicated to improving health outcomes through education, research, and policy development.
- Environmental Health, Climate and Sustainability – Exploring how environmental factors impact human health and strategies for creating healthier, more sustainable communities.
- Epidemiology & Population Health – Concentrating on the study of disease patterns, causes, and prevention at the population level.
Degrees Offered
The School of Public Health offers a variety of degree options designed to meet students’ academic and career goals:
- Master of Public Health (MPH): Offered in all five academic programs, the MPH provides broad training in population health and leadership skills for a wide range of public health careers.
- Master of Science (MS): Available in Biostatistics, with an emphasis on advanced quantitative and analytical methods.
- Doctor of Philosophy (PhD): Research-focused doctoral programs are offered in Biostatistics, Community Health Science, and Epidemiology.
