Keep in mind the timelines:
- For submission of forms (in relation to defense date – either Prospectus or Dissertation/Thesis)
- For scheduling the final defense (see Academic Calendar)
- For sending your drafts to committee members (each program has different requirements – school minimum is two weeks before scheduled defense must have submitted the final draft to committee)
Options in your final semesters:
- You must be registered in your final semester (full or part-time)
- In your anticipated final semester, you may register for Exam Only – this is a one-time allowance for Doctoral/MS students in good standing having completed the required dissertation credit hours and have scheduled their final defense may register under “Exam Only” (INTER 999, 1 credit hour)
- If you do not complete the semester of Exam Only, you will need to return to registering for Dissertation credit hours
- Another option: Diploma Only – this is for those that have completed their defense successfully, but missed the deadline on the Academic Calendar for graduation
Teaching Practicum:
- Didactic training in pedagogy – a 1 credit hour course (PUBH 7410) that reviews teaching
methods and best practices along with expectations at the SPH
- This course should come first - Teaching Assistant – serve as a TA for at least one MPH course within your concentration – register for program 7410
