Dr. Peggy Honoré at the Global Summit on Occupational Health in Music

Dr. Peggy Honoré was an invited guest speaker at the 1st Global Summit on Occupational Health in Music, held July 9, 2025 at the Johns Hopkins University Bloomberg Center in Washington DC. The Summit was offered as a Pre-Conference event to the Performing Arts Medicine Association’s International Symposium. Assisting Dr. Kris Chesky, Chair of the Department of Performing Arts and Health at Johns Hopkins and Peabody Institute were faculty from the Peabody Institute, School of Medicine, the Bloomberg School of Public Health, the Whiting School of Engineering, the School of Nursing, and the Cary Business School – all in a shared vision for change.
The Global Summit on Occupational Health in Music united global experts, educators, musicians, and health care providers to advocate for safer environments in higher education music programs and for occupational health to be recognized as an essential area of knowledge and competency for all musicians. This event brought together scholars, clinicians, educators, and advocates from across the world to reimagine the health and well-being of musicians through the lens of occupational health.
Dr. Honore’s presentation was titled “Policy: A Critical Component to Support Systemic Change in Music and Medical Education.”
The presentation focused on how to frame the work of the scholars and practitioners through a Population Health lens with recommendations for improvements solidified through Policy.
