Dr. Evrim Oral, Associate Professor in the Department of Biostatistics and Data Science at LSU Health New Orleans School of Public Health, has been named Guest Editor for the Special Issue Robust Statistics in the Modern Era: From Classical Foundations to AI-Driven Applications in the journal Mathematics.

The Special Issue will focus on recent developments in robust statistical methods, which are designed to provide reliable inference in the presence of outliers, model misspecification, heavy-tailed distributions, and contaminated data. As modern datasets continue to grow in size and complexity, robust approaches have become increasingly important in statistics, data science, machine learning, and related applied fields.

This issue invites high-quality submissions featuring theoretical advances, methodological innovations, and applied research in robust statistics. Areas of interest include robust estimation and inference, hypothesis testing, high-dimensional data analysis, robust methods in machine learning and artificial intelligence, and applications in data science and environmental sciences.

The submission deadline is October 20, 2026. More information about the Special Issue is available on the journal website (www.mdpi.com/si/270286).
