LSUHSC Research Featured on EurekAlert! for Study on Deepwater Horizon Spill's Lasting Impact on Children
LSU Health Sciences Center researchers Evrim Oral, PhD, and Katie Sternberger, MS, were recently featured on EurekAlert! for their study examining the long-term effects of the Deepwater Horizon Oil Spill. Published in PLOS One, the research found that mothers' exposure to the disaster may be indirectly linked to their children's mental health through financial and social resource loss. The study grew out of Sternberger's master's thesis at LSUHSC, with Oral leading the statistical analysis and Sternberger playing a key role in developing the work into a published manuscript.
