LSU School of Public Health Expands Reach with New Baton Rouge Instructional Site
August 21, 2025
The LSU School of Public Health is proud to announce the launch of a new Off-Campus Instructional Site (OCIS) in Baton Rouge, further expanding access to high-quality public health education in Louisiana. The site will open in Fall 2026 and will welcome its first cohort of students that semester.
This exciting new initiative will debut with two Master of Public Health (MPH) programs: Epidemiology and Population Health and Community Health Sciences and Policy. Both programs are designed to equip students with the knowledge, skills, and hands-on training needed to address pressing public health challenges and improve population health outcomes.
By offering these programs at the Baton Rouge site, the School of Public Health aims to create increased opportunities for students who wish to continue their education while remaining on or near the LSU Baton Rouge campus. This expansion not only enhances accessibility for students across the region but also strengthens connections between LSU Health Sciences Center in New Orleans and LSU’s flagship campus in Baton Rouge.
The Epidemiology and Population Health program focuses on the study of disease patterns, health outcomes, and the factors that influence them at the population level. The Community Health Sciences and Policy program emphasizes promoting wellness, preventing disease, and improving quality of life through systems change, equity-focused initiatives, and impactful policy development.
Additional degree programs and concentrations will be added in the future as the OCIS continues to grow and respond to the evolving needs of the public health workforce.
