The School of Public Health is proud to announce that Dr. Evrim Oral, a respected faculty member in the Biostatistics and Data Science Program, has been elected Vice Chair for District 5 on the Council of Chapters Governing Board (COCGB) of the American Statistical Association (ASA). This prestigious national leadership role is a testament to Dr. Oral’s outstanding contributions to the field of statistics and her well-established reputation among peers nationwide.

Her election to this prominent position within one of the most influential professional associations for statisticians highlights the national recognition Dr. Oral has earned through years of dedicated work, scholarly excellence, and service to the profession. It marks a significant milestone underscoring her growing influence as a leader in statistical science.

District 5 represents a broad and diverse geographic area, including Alabama, Austin, Florida, Georgia, Houston Area, Louisiana, Mississippi, North Carolina, North Texas, Puerto Rico, San Antonio, Southeast Texas, South Carolina, and South Florida. Dr. Oral’s leadership will be vital in supporting and advocating for statisticians across this expansive region.
