Cancer Research

The Cancer Research Interest Group brings together investigators with complementary expertise across the cancer research continuum, from molecular and population-based discovery to prevention, implementation, and cancer control. The group’s research interests include identifying biological, lifestyle, environmental, behavioral, and social determinants of cancer risk and outcomes; applying multi-omics, bioinformatics, data science, and biomedical informatics approaches to cancer research; and developing and evaluating strategies for cancer prevention and control in collaboration with communities, healthcare systems, and other partners.
The group seeks to catalyze interdisciplinary collaborations by connecting investigators
with shared datasets, biospecimens, analytic expertise, community partnerships, and
research infrastructure. Areas of particular interest include integration of registry,
clinical, molecular/omics, environmental, and community-level data; development of
collaborative studies and grant applications; and improved use of institutional resources
such as the Louisiana Tumor Registry and bioinformatics/informatics capabilities.
Through regular interactions, the group aims to identify complementary expertise,
address shared methodological and infrastructure needs, and translate promising ideas
into collaborative research projects.
