The Alcohol, Tobacco, and Other Drugs (ATOD) Research Interest Group is an interdisciplinary network of investigators dedicated to advancing research
on substance use prevention, treatment, recovery, and policy. Our work spans tobacco
and nicotine products, alcohol, cannabis, opioids, and other substances, with a focus
on reducing health disparities and improving population health outcomes through epidemiology,
behavioral science, implementation science, and community-engaged research.
We foster collaborations that bridge substance use research with cancer prevention and survivorship, chronic disease management, mental and behavioral health, health equity, and health policy. By connecting researchers, clinicians, and community partners, the ATOD Research Interest Group serves as a platform for innovative research, multi-investigator grant development, and the translation of evidence into effective programs, practices, and policies that improve the health of individuals and communities.
Key collaboration areas: Tobacco and nicotine control, Alcohol, substance use and chronic disease, cancer prevention and survivorship, health disparities, community-engaged research, implementation science, digital health interventions, and policy evaluation.
