I am currently an Associate Professor at LSUHSC, School of Public Health, Biostatistics Program. I earned my PhD degree in Statistics from Hacettepe University, Department of Statistics under the supervision of Dr. M. L. Tiku from McMaster University. Following my PhD, I became a post-doctoral fellow at University of Washington , both in the Epidemiology (2004-2005) and Biostatistics (2004-2006) departments. During that period, I was also affiliated with  the Fred Hutchinson Cancer Research Center and the Group Health Research Institute in Seattle. In 2006, I returned back to Turkey to take up an Assistant Professorship position at Middle East Technical University Department of Statistics, where I taught a variety of applied and theoretical statistics courses to both graduates and undergraduates . I joined the LSUHSC, SoPH in August 2008. My research focuses on the area of robust statistical inference, especially in generalized linear models and survey sampling methods.  My current research also involves randomized response techniques and unit nonresponse in survey sampling and statistical inference with censored observations. This year I am serving as the Secretary/Treasurer of the Louisiana Chapter of the American Statistical Association.
