Biography:

Dr. Xiaocheng Wu, Associate Professor, received her MD in 1983 and MPH in 1986 from Xian Medical University in Xian, China. She was working as an assistant research professor at the Chinese Academy of Preventive Medicine in Beijing from 1987 to 1990. She jointed the LSUHSC in 1991. Her research focuses mainly on population-based cancer epidemiology and using cancer registry data for cancer surveillance studies. She has published over 40 articles in peer reviewed-journals and has served as the leading editor for the annual monograph “Cancer Incidence in North America” since 2000. She actively participates in numerous national committees including the Data Use and Research Committee, Research Proposal Review Subcommittee of the North American Association of Central Cancer Registries (NAACCR), the CDC NPCR Scientific Advisory Group for Patterns of Care Studies, and Annual Report to the Nation working group. She has served as PI and Co-PI for numerous cancer epidemiology studies. Currently, she is the PI for one project funded by CDC and two projects funded by NCI and Co-PI for the Louisiana Surveillance, Epidemiology, and End Results program and the CDC’s NPCR program. She also serves as the Assistant Director of Louisiana Tumor Registry to assist the director in overseeing the registry daily operations. She has served as a member for thesis and dissertation committees for three graduate students. She is the director for one required course for graduate students in epidemiology.
