Student Support Programs, Services, and Activities

The Health Sciences Center provides the Student Health Service for all students enrolled at the New Orleans campus through the student health fee. This clinic will provide students outpatient care for preventive, acute and/or chronic medical needs.

In addition to the student support Programs offered by LSU HSC the SPH provides its students the opportunity to conduct public health fieldwork projects under the guidance of formally identified mentors who assist them in defining these tasks and guide them through their completion.

Students are encouraged to seek assistance with stress, emotional difficulties and personal problems before they become serious. A 24-hour crisis line is available at 504/568-3931.

Short-term counseling is also available, and referrals are provided for more extensive counseling. On-Campus services are available at the Lions Eye Center Building, 2020 Gravier, 5th Floor. Appointments made by calling 504/568-3931. Off-Campus assistance is also available from B. Adelsberg, M.N., C.S. Appointments may be made by contacting Ms. Adelsberg at 504/455-7296.
