Partial listing of sponsored research projects and service programs in which the HPSM faculty are currently involved:
LSU Health Care Services Division (HCSD) Health Care Effectiveness (HCE): an evidence-based clinical redesign and data driven quality improvement program - is contingent upon the reliable measurement and evaluation of clinical process and outcome indicators. The HCE’s data warehouse – Disease Management Evaluation Database (DMED) provides data for system-level analysis of chronic disease (diabetes, CHF, HIV, asthma) and preventive health (cancer screening) measures, and enables comparison of performance and outcome indicators across facilities.
St. Thomas Community Health Center provides culturally competent health care of the highest quality, regardless of the ability to pay. The center relevant research and educational activities are directed to achieving community-driven health initiatives that reduce health disparities in the community.
The center has been an important site for the training of Medical Students, Internal Medicine Residents, Family Practice Residents, Nurse Practitioners, Public Health and PharmD students from LSU, Ochsner, Xavier and Tulane. It has been an attractive training site because of its position in a vibrant community setting.
